We have an opening for a passionate engineer that will help us develop new infrared optical sensors for gas detection. You would join our small team of creative engineers in the Sensor Technology group, working together with colleagues covering diverse disciplines including Systems Hardware, Optical Systems, MEMS Technology, Mechanical Design, Product Development, Detector Qualification and Certifications. Are you up for the challenge?
Typical Tasks:
Research and development of optical sensors
Help with scaling up sensor prototypes to manufacturing lines
Analyze trade-offs among performance, manufacturability and schedule
Build sensor calibration models
Model, simulate and experimentally verify sources of optical measurement error
Run experiments to analyze performance of sensors under different conditions
Characterize and test MEMS components
Required Qualifications & Education:
Excellent written and verbal communication and solid teamwork skills
Fast learner with strong fundamental skills
Proactive self-starter with hands-on mentality
Excellent analytical thinking and problem solving skills
Knowledge of optical sensor functionality and implementation
Experience with scripting languages, e.g., MATLAB/Python, or similar simulation and modeling tools
M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Physics, Optics, Micro/Nanotechnology, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
Desired Qualifications:
Fabrication and assembly of optical sensors
Designing, building and operation of optical test setups
Sensor testing and calibration
Data acquisition software like LabVIEW
Familiarity in optical modelling tools like Zemax
Familiarity with MEMS technology
Familiarity with C/C++/Objective-C
Familiarity with CAD design software like SolidWorks and AutoCAD
Familiarity with electronic circuit design
