Failure Analysis Engineer – Graduate

About the job

It’s an exciting time to join Nordic Semiconductor as we continue our rapid growth, while perusing high ambitions with dedicated colleagues worldwide. We are currently looking for a motivated graduate to join our high-end FA Laboratory at our Design Headquarters in Trondheim, where we work with electrical and physical failure analysis of our devices.

Are you interested in electrical detective work, in finding out the root cause of failures, in surgery on the nanometer scale, and in literally digging into the deepest secrets of a die? Then failure analysis may be the ideal match for you. Some of the many techniques you will use are electrical probing and testing, chemical processing, polishing, cross-sectioning, optical/acoustic/electron microscopy, EDS, FIB and X-ray.

You will work closely together with your colleagues in the Failure Analysis team as well as with other parts of the organization (Test & Verification, Design, Product Engineering) to ensure efficient and thorough case handling.

Key responsibilities

Operation and use of modern, high-end FA tools and equipment Producing written documentation, including analysis procedures and failure analysis reports, which are valuable for internal stakeholders as well as customers and suppliers Method development to improve our analyses Maintenance of FA lab tools and equipment to ensure reliable and consistent operation Qualifications and skills

Master’s Degree in Electronics, Nanotechnology, Materials Science, Semiconductors, or other relevant areas Good interpersonal skills, enabling effective teamwork and problem-solving across the Nordic organization Good written and verbal communication skills in English, preferably also in Norwegian. Knowledge about wafer fabrication processes, IC design, FIB/SEM, inorganic chemistry or mechanical properties is an advantage.

Personal skills

We are looking for a team-oriented colleague with the ability to take initiative and work autonomously. We hope that you are curious to learn, eager to try out new things, and continuously improve, while acknowledging that failure is an important part of learning. An eye for detail and perseverance are important traits to succeed as a failure analysis engineer, as well as sharing knowledge and experience with your colleagues.

You will be part of a fast-paced environment with constantly changing priorities. Multitasking and prioritization are skill sets you are required to develop together with time management skills, but with your genuine interest in performing to the highest of your ability, you will be given time to grow into your role.

Working for Nordic

As a graduate in Nordic Semiconductor, you will be inspired and supported to develop yourself. Our teams enjoy a professional and informal working environment. We value and encourage the continuous development of skills and expertise to the highest levels. We are proud of our Norwegian heritage, our highly skilled international workforce, world-leading innovation, and professional brilliance. We offer a variety of tasks and projects, and the possibility to work alongside some of the world’s most renowned experts within their field. We encourage our employees to question the established and innovate while expecting professionalism, commitment, and the will to learn.
