Short job description:

CrayoNano is developing UVC-LEDs for the disinfection market. The LEDs are based on nanowires grown using MOCVD (Metal organic chemical vapour deposition) and processed using microlithography. The technician will be employed at our office and research facility at Sluppen in Trondheim, with a majority of work to be performed in the NanoLab at NTNU Gløshaugen in Trondheim. They will contribute to experiments in etching of semiconductor materials, assist in microfabrication processing on wafers and chips, and assist in characterization of films and patterns.

All candidates must be eligible for access to NTNU NanoLab, and available to arrange relevant tool licenses before the starting date. We are looking for someone who can work 6-8 weeks, can start in mid/end of June, and will work full time. At the end of the working period, a possible continuation of the position as a part time employee can be discussed.

Tasks:

  • Wafer fabrication using
    • Evaporation
    • Reactive ion etching (RIE)
    • Photolithography
    • Wet chemical etching
  • Wafer characterization using
    • Atomic force microscopy (AFM)
    • Scanning electron microscopy (SEM)
    • Optical microscopy (OM)
    • Optical reflectometry
    • Profilometry
  • Data collection and organization
  • Results reporting

Requirements:

  • Is currently in a study programme related to chemistry, materials science, nanotechnology, physics, electronics engineering or similar
  • Must be eligible for access to NTNU NanoLab, and available to arrange relevant tool licenses before the start of work period (Lab trainings not generally available after mid-June)

Experience:

  • Basic understanding of microlithography required
  • Basic cleanroom experience required
  • Experience working with hazardous chemicals in a wet bench will be seen as an asset
  • Experience using microfabrication and characterization tools is beneficial

Skills:

  • Conducts themselves well in a lab environment
  • Structured and organized mindset
  • Able to work both in a team and independently
