PhD Candidate in materials science – Ferroelectric thin film

SØK HER!

A PhD Candidate position in the field of materials science with a focus on ferroelectric thin films for ICT and health applications is available. The successful candidate will be affiliated to the FACET research group at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at NTNU and work in a multidisciplinary and international environment. Our group is internationally renowned for its research on inorganic ferroic materials, covering materials modelling, synthesis, and multiscale characterization. Additional information about the research group can be found here. The PhD research fellow will be a part of a strategic project funded by NTNU’s Rector to promote excellence in science.

The tasks for this PhD candidate will cover all aspects from thin film processing over crystal structure and microstructure characterization to testing of the functional properties of prototype thin film devices. Advanced characterization methods such as transmission electron microscopy and in situ synchrotron X-ray diffraction will be used to clarify the structure property relationships. A combination of experimental and modelling techniques will be used to optimize the thin film characteristics. For the position as a PhD candidate, the goal is a completed doctoral education up to an obtained doctoral degree.
