The aim of this project is that the student will establish a standarized and optimized protocol for fabricating more complex pillar arrays (or other structures) to be used for cell studies. The student will mainly work with electron beam lithography (EBL) process, but other methods may also be tested, for example greyscale lithography. In addition the student will use SEM to characterize these substrates.

Potential extension of the project will also include some cell studies, which will involve staining and imaging of cells on these substrates using confocal microscopy. The aim of these studies is contribute to the understanding of the important parameters and their combination that result in nuclear deformation, and how this lead to changes in chromatin organization.
