Telenor Satellite Broadcasting AS owns and operates 4 satellites. Our operation is growing and we have recently signed a contract for delivering of THOR 7 in Q4 2013. Our satellites encompass a broad coverage area, reaching a third of the world’s landmass, broadcasting nearly 700 TV, and radio channels. Telenor Satellite Broadcasting AS also provides fixed and mobile satellite communication and transmission services for data and remote Internet applications together with VSAT and broadband services in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The Satellite Operations department has a total of 19 employees. The vacant position is part of the engineering group, responsible for operation of the THOR satellite fleet and associated ground station installations. The position is based at Telenor’s headquarters at Fornebu (Satellite Control Center). Specific satellite and ground system training will be given, but it is desirable that the applicant has good knowledge of geostationary satellites and orbital dynamics.

Main responsibility:
• Flight dynamics.
o Routinely plan, check, evaluate, and supervise spacecraft maneuvers.
o Routinely verify correct data inputs to flight dynamics software, and maintain software configuration and databases.
o Routinely generate satellite ephemeris and supervise uploads. o Perform long term evaluation of thrusters and propulsion subsystem performance, and plan long term maneuver strategies, to minimize fuel consumption.
o Propellant bookkeeping and end of life calculations.
o Generate ground antenna pointing predicts.
o Co-location analyzes, planning and evaluation.

Secondary responsibility:
•Spacecraft engineering:
o Ensure that all spacecraft subsystems are operated in a safe manner.
o Follow up and analyze telemetry data from the Satellites. Evaluate satellite performance against predicts and operational limitations. Develop routines and software tools as required to aid trending and analysis.
o Secure continuously correct alarm levels.
o Maintain integrity of operational procedures. Contribute with improvements, and updates when needed.
o Support troubleshooting and provide operational recommendations.

•Other activities:
o Contribute in regular reporting to management and customers regarding THOR fleet status.
o Obtain a detailed knowledge of the relevant satellite and ground subsystems required to support satellite operators on duty.
o Take part in an on call roster to strengthen operational support when needed. Some activities may occur outside regular office hours.
o Project support. New satellite or ground system procurements.

Skills:
It is desirable that you possess several of the following skills:
•Education from university or equivalent with Bachelor or Master degree in one of the following: Astrophysics, Astrodynamics, Applied mathematics, Aerospace/Spacecraft engineering.
•Experience from Aerospace industry.
•Experience/knowledge with communication satellites and orbital mechanics.
•Experience/knowledge about technical 24/7 operational environments.
•Basic skills in a programming language such as Java, C++ or others.
•Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
