At Høvik, we have a well-equipped metallographic laboratory, and perform trouble shooting, failure analysis, materials characterization and mechanical testing of metallic materials. The section is also responsible for development and maintenance of several of

DNV’s technical standards and Recommended Practice documents.
We are looking for senior materials engineers that can contribute to maintaining DNV’s strong position within these areas and help develop our team. Relevant experience from the oil and gas and/or maritime industry will be considered an advantage. We also encourage university graduates with relevant education to apply.

Job description:

  • The positions will include several focus areas (dependent on qualifications and interests) related to materials. You will be part of a team offering the following services to our clients:
  • Materials advisory services for the maritime and offshore oil and gas industry
  • Development and maintenance of materials requirements in DNV offshore standards and recommended practice
  • Project management of multi-disciplinary projects within DNV
  • Verification and certification services
  • Participation in technology development projects
  • Qualification of new technology
  • Failure investigations

Qualifications:

  • MSc/Ph.D. within materials technology or metallurgy and experience from one or several of the following areas:
  • Process/physical metallurgy
  • Fundamental aspects of materials technology (metallurgy, welding, corrosion, Non Destructive Testing)
  • Materials selection
  • Experience from fabrication and welding within maritime and/or oil and gas industry will be an advantage
  • Knowledge of relevant material standards within maritime and/or oil and gas industry will be an advantage
  • Project management experience
